As a designated agency, our primary objective is to integrate the multitude of supports and training offered in our new teacher program with a purposeful licensing initiative, tailored to create a sustainable, differentiated, and district-aligned experience. Through effective programming, our alternative licensure program ensures that teachers are fully immersed in the mission, vision, and values of Mesa County School District 51 from the outset, enabling them to contribute as successful members of our school community immediately. Participation in this opportunity requires candidates to secure a teaching position within the district. Throughout the two-year program, alternative licensure teachers engage in professional learning activities aligned with mastery of academic standards and responsive to all student groups' social and emotional needs. The curriculum centers on D51's Teaching and Learning Framework competencies, focusing on creating learner-centered environments, designing effective learning experiences, monitoring student progress, and fostering professional engagement.
